Publix Healthy Value Meal – Pork and Kraut

Ok- I know that people either love or hate sauerkraut. Because of my heritage, I LOVE it! And thanks to St. Patrick’s Day, sauerkraut is on sale this week at Publix. Here is my super simple crockpot recipe.

4 Center cut pork chops (also on sale)

1 large jar Claussen sauerkraut

Stone ground mustard

1/2 onion, sliced

Salt and Pepper to taste

Sprinkle pork with salt and pepper. Spread each chop with stone ground mustard. Pour 1/3 of sauerkraut into bottom of crockpot. Place chops on top of kraut. Pour the remaining kraut over the pork and place sliced onions on top. Cook on low about 8 hours. Serve over a bed of whole grain pasta if desired.

  1. http://www.food.com/recipe/crock-pot-pork-and-sauerkraut-149675 This is the recipe that I use. I almost always make it when I have fellow Americans for company (as sauerkraut is NOT eaten by Guatemalans) as we don’t get it here generally very often. It always receives rave reviews! It’s not as easy as yours, however. You can easily skip the butter and it wouldn’t be missed. ☺

  2. Howdy! This article couldn’t be written any better! Looking through this article reminds me of my previous roommate! He continually kept talking about this. I’ll forward this article to him.
Fairly certain he will have a great read. I appreciate you for sharing!

Is there any way you can remove me from that service?
    Appreciate it!

    • I’ve looked, but I’m not sure how to do that. Was your comment left on the ‘Pork and Kraut’ post…I’m not seeing on there. Wish I could be of more help- sorry!
