Heart Attack Stat Hits Close to Home
Tuesday morning, my 50-something year-old uncle suffered a massive heart attack. He was blessed to have been at school when it happened where CPR was administered and a defibrillator was used. He is still in critical condition and, even if he pulls through, there will be a long road to recovery.
Unfortunately, his heart attack could have been prevented. He is one of nearly 36% of American adults who are overweight, and is now one of the 935,000 Americans who will suffer from a heart attack this year.
I recently posted this wonderful article about eating- eating for nutrition not just to “be thin or skinny”. Whole foods are a wonderful source of nutrition that God created and designed for our bodies to use. If we educate ourselves and those around us, we will be able to reverse these horrific trends in disease within this country.

A Super Bowl Crowd Pleaser
Super Bowl food need not be super heavy and greasy. Here is a great platter that my family loves- especially with a new find of ours- Terra Sweets and Carrots Chips.
Cinnamon Raisin Hummus with crisp apple slices, celery sticks (think ants on a log!), and the carrot and sweet potato chips
Or try Coconut Lime Hummus with tortilla chips, graham crackers, and strawberries
I am shipping on Wednesday, so if you are out of the area and are interested in purchasing some sweet hummus to have in time for the Super Bowl, please contact me today.

39.4% of Americans
39.4% of Americans are UNKNOWINGLY living with high pressure, according to the CDC. It is important that you check your bp on a regular basis. Don’t forget that many stores/pharmacies have them accessible to their customers.

Clean and Homemade BBQ Sauce
Tonight, since it has been a warm winter day, called for grilled BBQ chicken. Here is the BBQ sauce that I made to bast our bone-in breasts:
-
1 cup organic ketchup
-
1 Tablespoon tomato paste
-
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-
2 teaspoons honey
-
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1/2 teaspoon cumin
-
1/2 teaspoon paprika
-
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
-
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Mix all ingredients together. Use immediately or store in an airtight container for 1 week in fridge.
Rub meat first with Mexican spice mix for an even more intense flavor. Don’t forget to add sauce towards the ending of grilling so the sugars don’t burn your chicken!
